Grisaille is a method of monochrome painting used widely during the Renaissance. It imitates sculpture or relief and is often used as an underpainting before the addition of different colors.

Just as the Renaissance yearned for a resurgence of classical antiquity, so Grisaille explores the feelings of nostalgia associated with our generation’s childhood.

Nostalgia is an inexplicable feeling. A feeling of sadness found when looking back on some of the memories that were the most joyous. A wistful feeling of grey when we rediscover some of the most colorful times. A goal for this brand as it progresses is to embody this enigmatic feeling. 

Grisaille Clothing is an experimental brand that uses its core concept as its driving force. Each collection has a subconcept which further builds on the main idea.

Grisaille’s challenge is to combine childlike nature with a mature style—the past with the present.
